3100 - Computer Laboratory Department Radio Communications and Video Technology Laboratory 1253 - Information technology in medicine Laboratory exercises with students from the Faculty of Telecommunications in the subject "Communication Systems in Medicine" and with students from the Faculty of Computer Systems and Management in the discipline "Information Technologies in Medicine" are provided in this laboratory. The laboratory is equipped with specialized laboratory models for training of students. The laboratory is also used for doctoral studies under the Ph.D. program "Theoretical foundation of communication ( engineering &information technologies in medicine)" Until now, the laboratory has been used by 8 PhD students who have defended their dissertations and three other PhD students prepare their dissertations. Many engineering systems have been designed in the laboratory to be used in hospitals and medical centers. Some of these systems are patented in Bulgaria, England, Germany, Japan, Hungary and others. In the laboratory there are different measuring devices, a computer grade of 8 Intel Core i5-2400 CPU 3GHz, HD 1TB, 8GB RAM. Each year, about 7 students at the Faculty of Telecommunications and the Faculty of Computer Systems and Management are preparing their diploma work in the laboratory. Often the reports of the regular international engineering conference CEMA describe the results of the engineering investigations conducted in the laboratory. Laboratory 1256 - Signals and Systems The laboratory was renovated in 2006 and later in 2014. It was refurbished with modern computer equipment. In the lab there are 15 workplaces with 15 computers. There are high-speed Internet connection and free WiFi access.

The available multimedia set helps in interactive education process for students, attending courses included in bachelor or master curriculum, namely "Information Technologies in Telecommunications", "Mobile Networks and Services", "Multimedia Networks" and "4G Networks - LTE". Laboratory 1456 The laboratory has an area of 48 m2 and has 16 working places for students. The laboratory has been reconstructed and fully renovated in 2013 with the financial support of the State Enterprise "Air Traffic Services Authorities".

It has 4 HP servers, 4 storage systems of different classes, 30 desktop computers, 5 core class Juniper routers, Cisco equipment, unlimited number of working licenses. The aim of the team in the laboratory is to allow students to understand foundation of communication networks, IP technology, operation systems, system administration, storage technologies, fiber channel protocol, network design and configuration. Those measurement tools can be used for research of basic characteristic and parameters of different electronic components. The behavior of the materials in the electromagnetic field could be investigated in the laboratories also. The measurement equipment includes: oscilloscopes, generators, multimeters, multifunctional data acquisitions systems, thermal cameras with adjustable temperature, computers, etc. Students work with the designed learning kits developed for laboratory exercises of different courses: "Material science" – course for first year students studying at the Faculty of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies and Faculty of Computer Systems and Control; "Design of Communication Devices" - course for third year studying at the Faculty of Telecommunications. Laboratory 1210 The Laboratory is mainly dedicated to laboratory exercises oriented to computer aided design (CAD) of printed circuit boards (PCB). This is achieved mainly by means of established software products like Protel and Orcad. There are seven personal computers, i.e. workplaces dislocated in the room. Part of the laboratory exercises in "Technological Practicum" for students in Telecommunications are being conducted in the same room since 2013/2014 study year. Four corresponding workplaces comprising microcontroller Arduino – based development system are provided for them. The laboratory disposes with licenses software - VIVADO (XILINX), Cadence ORCAD Design Suit 16.6, COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 5.1. There is also software installed for design and simulation of nano communications structures, devices and networks: Nanotube Modeler and NanoEngineer 1. The open source platforms for SDR and Cognitive radio design - GNU Radio and OSSIE are installed, as well as drivers for hardware USRP1, 2, n210, daughterboard, antennas, etc. The research performed implements USRPs, developments boards with FPGA/CPLD of XILINX, ALTERA and CYPRESS. It disposes with measurement instruments as logical analyzer and signal vector generator. The laboratory is used for practical exercises of bachelor and master degree students, for bachelor and master degree thesis development, for ERASMUS+ students and for Ph.D. research. The laboratory is also involved in e-learning projects. Laboratory 1306А - Communication Information Management Technologies The Laboratory is an information and training center in the field of Communication technologies for data storing and data security. A Storage Area Network is configured and installed in the Laboratory. The available Equipment includes an entry-level enterprise storage array EMC CX300, optical switches, Fujitsu Siemens Computers server with two communication adapter (HBA). Main topics of the Lectures in the laboratory are Communication technologies for data storing, data security and information management and Integrated Primary and Secondary Data Center Solutions. Communication technologies cover the topics related to SAN, NAS, CAS Technologies, Corporate storage solutions design based on entry level, middle range and high end storage arrays and Information Lifecycle Management solutions. Integrated Primary and Secondary Data Center Solutions include Disaster recovery solutions, Data replication technologies and business continuity solutions: SRDF, TF, SnapView, Mirror View Software configuration and implementation and Cloud technologies and services.
